Dear Local Gourmands,
I’m foggy with a head cold, can’t believe it’s still January, but but plan to nurse myself back to health and on to the next phase by ducking in and out of noodle shops and dumpling houses. Yesterday rang in the Year of the Ox, and everyone showed up with long lists of where to get the best of the city’s Chinese snacks. If you didn’t already, may I suggest checking out: 20 Great Things to Eat in Flushing, Queens, Ed Schoenfeld’s tour through Brooklyn’s Chinatown, Brooklyn Based has its own additions, and some other fun, cheap eats tips from chefs in New York mag.
My own little round up is short and sweet this week– frankly, my mind is on soup dumplings.
May your noodle slurping be completely unabashed,

Meet New York’s late, great Insatiable Critic when she speaks at a meeting of The Three Tomatoes later this month. I’m wondering whether or not she’ll be wearing a fabulous chapeau.
